Mark Charles  is a  member of the  Navajo nation. His father was a Navajo Indian, his mother was of Dutch ancestry. He is a writer, activist and motivational speaker. His lectures explore the complexities of American history, in particular the so-called “Doctrine of Discovery”. His focus is the intersection of history, race, culture and faith. He is a columnist and correspondent for Native News Online.  Before settling in Washington, D.C.,  Mr. Charles lived  with his wife and children for eleven years on the Navajo reservation, which covers territories located in Utah, Arizona and New Mexico.
